JOB TITLE –Sanitation Workers   

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Sanitation Worker in Burnbrae Farms, you will have a variety of responsibilities, including deep cleaning of their Machines and general Building cleaning maintenance. Sanitation worker is a very important position to ensure that we are cleaning all areas of the manufacturing facility regularly in accordance with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and BRC standards. Duties include but are not limited to, dismantling and cleaning packing lanes, washing tanks, cleaning belts, overhead pipes, and all food contact surfaces and machines in production.  It will also include dusting, mopping and general upkeep of production and shipping floor areas. 

This position requires physical capability, including bending, lifting, and working underneath packing lanes. Attention to detail and good time management skills are also important. The ideal candidate is a team player with high attention to detail who thrives in a fast-paced and physically demanding role. Candidates chosen for this position will rotate through all positions as required.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Dismantling, sanitizing and setup of equipment
  • Some lifting involved
  • Keen eye for cleanliness and safe use of chemicals
  • Ensure all safety requirements are met such as personal protective equipment, WHMIS, lockout/tag out procedures, and chemical mixing precautions
  • Comply with government regulations relating to food processing facilities
  • Knowledgeable in sanitation procedures (production equipment cleanup/setup, and building services)
  • Willingness to work all shifts, including Days, Afternoons, Overnights, along with weekends
  • Dedicated, articulate, attention to detail
  • Team player with excellent mechanical ability
  • Maintain a positive work environment by cooperating with co-workers and management through the way you act and communicate.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), maintain sanitary conditions, and report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Follow HACCP practices and actively promote our safety culture by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for reporting all incidents, accidents, and observations of unsafe acts or conditions.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous Experience in food manufacturing as an asset
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work within a team setting as well as independently
  • The flexibility to work various shifts, weekdays, and weekends
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Proven commitment to safety and quality
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well as a member of a team
  • Ability to safely lift 30-50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift while bending and twisting in a variety of movements
    • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Certificate or equivalent Preferred
  • At least one (1) year of experience in the food industry and/or manufacturing environment is an asset.
