Job Summary:

Retail sales supervisors oversee the operations of retail sales staff to ensure smooth functioning of the store, customer satisfaction, and achievement of sales targets. They are responsible for supervising, coordinating, and scheduling the activities of the sales staff, ensuring that customers are well served, and assisting in the management of retail operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervise and Coordinate Staff:

   • Supervise and oversee the activities of retail sales staff.
   • Assign tasks to sales associates and manage work schedules.
   • Train new employees on sales techniques, customer service practices, and store policies.
   • Monitor the performance of sales staff and provide feedback to ensure goals are met.

2. Customer Service Management:

   • Ensure that customers receive excellent service and their needs are promptly addressed.
   • Resolve customer complaints and issues in a timely and professional manner.
   • Promote a positive shopping experience for customers.

3. Sales and Inventory Management:

   • Monitor sales performance and ensure that sales targets are met or exceeded.
   • Oversee merchandising, product displays, and stock levels to ensure store readiness.
   • Assist with inventory control, stock replenishment, and ordering new products as needed.
   • Perform stock counts and help prevent inventory shrinkage.

4. Administrative Duties:

   • Prepare and submit sales reports to management.
   • Maintain records of staff attendance, sales performance, and customer feedback.
   • Assist in managing cash registers and ensuring accuracy in cash handling.

5. Staff Training and Development:

   • Train new staff members on store policies, cash handling, and product knowledge.
   • Provide ongoing coaching to sales staff to improve performance and service quality.
   • Conduct performance reviews and recommend promotions or disciplinary actions when necessary.

6. Store Operations:

   • Ensure that store policies are followed, including health and safety regulations.
   • Participate in store opening and closing procedures.
   • Assist with promotional activities, including sales campaigns and in-store events.

7. Communication with Management:

   • Report any issues, concerns, or suggestions regarding store operations to management.
   • Provide recommendations for improving sales, staff performance, or store efficiency.

8. Team Leadership:

   • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
   • Lead by example by providing excellent customer service and contributing to the team’s sales efforts.

Qualifications:

• Education: College/CEGEP Or Equivalent of Experience.
• Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year. 

Work Environment:

• Retail sales supervisors work in various retail establishments such as clothing stores, electronics stores, grocery stores, and department stores.
• They may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on the store's hours of operation.
• The position often involves standing for extended periods and may require lifting or moving merchandise.
