Responsibilities
Tasks
- Assisting with Personal Hygiene: Helping with daily bathing, grooming, and dressing to maintain cleanliness and comfort.
- Monitoring Vital Signs: Regularly checking blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and oxygen levels to ensure stability and report any unusual changes to healthcare providers.
- Meal Preparation and Nutrition Support: Preparing meals that meet dietary restrictions, ensuring proper hydration and balanced nutrition to support kidney health.
- Medication Administration: Providing reminders or administering prescribed medications according to the schedule set by healthcare professionals, being mindful of any dietary or timing requirements.
- Supporting Mobility: Assisting the patient with moving around the home, getting in and out of bed, and using mobility aids if needed to prevent falls and injuries.
- Managing Symptoms: Monitoring for symptoms related to kidney failure, such as swelling, fatigue, or shortness of breath, and addressing discomfort as directed by medical guidelines.
- Emotional Support and Companionship: Offering companionship, engaging in conversations, and providing emotional support to help reduce anxiety and enhance mental well-being.
- Assistance with Dialysis Care: If the patient is undergoing dialysis, assisting with preparation for at-home dialysis or coordinating transportation to dialysis appointments.
- Ensuring a Clean Environment: Maintaining a clean and hygienic living space by helping with light housekeeping, laundry, and sanitizing areas to reduce infection risk.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Documenting daily activities, dietary intake, symptoms, and any changes in the patient's condition to report to healthcare providers and family members as needed.
