We are seeking two (2) Hotel Managing Supervisors with 1 to 2 years of related experience to join us at Sunbridge Hotel Toronto East. Preferred candidates should report to the General Manager and have a background in hospitality management, supervision, and customer service tailored to working with vulnerable populations, such as refugees and homeless individuals. This position requires excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving skills, and an ability to handle complex situations with empathy and professionalism. Upon employment, individuals will be expected to sign and acknowledge the technical, operational, and service training standards, as well as this job description.
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Terms of Employment: Permanent Full-time, 30 hours/week
Salary Range: $28.50/hour
Paid Vacation and Public Holidays: 2 weeks paid vacation
Vacation Pay: 4% of gross salary

- Supervise and co-ordinate hotel staff across various departments (more than 20 people) to ensure smooth daily operations, specifically tailored to providing a safe and supportive environment for vulnerable populations, including refugees and homeless individuals.
- Establish work schedules, assign duties, and ensure tasks are completed promptly and efficiently, ensuring staff are equipped with the skills to manage complex customer service issues.
- Perform the same duties as those supervised when necessary, offering leadership and support in handling unique challenges related to shelter operations, ensuring both guest and staff well-being.
- Prepare and submit daily operational reports, identifying any concerns related to guest issues, including mental health or personal safety, and recommending appropriate measures.
- Resolve work problems by providing staff with advanced training in conflict resolution, trauma-informed care, and effective communication, ensuring the highest level of customer service.
- Co-ordinate, assign, and review work to ensure a positive, respectful, and secure environment for guests and staff.
- Hire, train, and onboard new staff with a focus on developing skills for working with refugees and homeless individuals, covering safety procedures, trauma care, and company policies.
- Assist guests with special needs, resolving their concerns with compassion, while maintaining the highest standards of service and discretion.
- Maintain the operation of hotel equipment and systems, arranging repairs as needed to ensure business continuity and guest safety.
- Oversee requisitioning of materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock to support smooth operation of the hotel.
- Physical Demands: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, standing for extended periods, and managing a large workload.
- Work Environment: Requires handling sensitive and challenging situations involving refugees and homeless individuals, often under tight deadlines and high-pressure conditions.
- Attention to Detail: Essential for maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive shelter environment.
- Education: College diploma (College/CEGEP) in Hospitality Management, Social Work, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably within a shelter, hotel, or a similar environment supporting vulnerable individuals.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with MS Outlook is required.
- Language Requirements: English (fluent)
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to supervise staff in a high-stress environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, particularly when addressing the unique needs of vulnerable populations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
