Nature of position:      Permanent, full-time (35 hours per week)

 

Wage:                          $29.10 per hour

 

Leave:                         15 vacation days per annum

                                    7 personal leave days

                                    3 flex leave days

 

Language required:     English, spoken and written

JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position:

 

  • Assist to manage the general ledger, including daily deposits and journal entry postings;
  • Prepare monthly reports and conduct appropriate analysis;
  • Review client invoices at month-end for account verification and reconciliation;
  • Scan and file accounting records;
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as required;
  • Assist in preparing monthly bank reconciliations;
  • Assist with year-end reconciliations / working papers;
  • Back-up support for Trust Accountant and other members of the accounting team as needed (e.g. A/P, A/R. collections); and,
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience:

 

  • Completion of a college or university program of study in bookkeeping or accounting;
  • At least one year of experience in the role (or a very similar role);
  • Minimum one year experience at a comparable level of responsibility;
  • Some experiencing managing law firm bank accounts;
  • Knowledge of Law Society of British Columbia trust accounting rules and requirements;
  • Comfortable dealing with all levels of an organization;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • Familiarity with Acumin would be an asset;
  • Able to work independently with minimal instructions and as part of a team;
  • Ability to work within deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner;
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English; and
  • Attention to detail.
