Pastry Chef / Mediterranean pastries (bake shop)
Salary: $34.10 per hour
Hours: full time, 30-44 hours per week, regular, permanent
Requirements: 5 or more experience as a pastry chef, several years of experience in baking, experience and skills to prepare and bake special Mediterranean pastries by hand, from scratch using traditional recipes and techniques, ability to work in fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Ability to oversee the baking process, baking personnel and staff . Personal suitability: initiative, dependability, reliability, team player, flexibility, organized.
Duties: Prepare dough and bake bread, rolls, “lepinja buns” (flat bread ala naan bread), pita, burek (layered cheese/meat pie with special extra-thin Mediterranean style handmade phyllo dough), “gibanica” (layered pastry dish) , “pogacica “(traditional buns) , kolac (traditional yeasted bread) according to Mediterranean (Serbian/Croatian) recipes or special customers’ orders on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions, supervise and instruct baking personnel and kitchen staff in preparation, baking, garnishing and presentation of food. Prepare and bake complete offer of baking goods and specialty foods for events such as banquets, create new recipes.
