Job Position: Sous-Chef

Employer: Cantina Gia

Location: Cantina Gia, Ottawa, ON, K1S 3V3

Salary: $ 26.00 hourly, / 35 hours per week.

Terms of employment: Permanent employment Full-time: Day, Evening, Flexible Hours, Morning, weekend

Start date: starts as soon as possible

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
• Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
• Create new recipes
• Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
• Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff
• Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
• Requisition food and kitchen supplies
• Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
• Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, and courses):

• Food Safety Certificate
