Job description:
Job Type: full-time, permanent
Education: A bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering or in an appropriate related engineering discipline is required.
Main Duties
- Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of electrical generation and distribution networks, electrical control systems.
- Design electrical circuits, components, systems, and equipment.
- Inspect the installation, modification, testing, and operation of electrical systems.
- Develop maintenance and operating standards for electrical systems and equipment.
- Investigate electrical failures and perform power systems studies (short circuit calculations, arc flash studies, relay protection).
- Prepare electrical drawings (single line diagrams, motor schematics and wiring diagrams, instrumentation and control wiring diagrams, grounding layouts, lighting layouts, conduit and cable tray layouts).
- Prepare PLC configurations and I/O lists; perform PLC and HMI programming.
- Update cost estimates and project schedules; report and design specifications; produce bid documents and perform bid evaluations.
- Coordinate with suppliers, clients, contractors, and other disciplines.
Employment Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronics engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensing by EGBC or related licenses is required.
- Experience in electrical and power systems design, project management, and on-site commissioning for industries such as mining, wood, oil and gas, renewable energy, and power utilities is preferred
- Familiarity with power transmission, substations, and power distribution.
- Knowledge of diesel and gas gensets, VFDs, PLC, HMI, and DCS systems.
- Proficiency with IEEE Color Books, CEC, NEC, NFPA, NAICS, and the BC Building Code.
- Experience using EasyPower, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Leadership abilities and the capability to provide direction to engineers and designers is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required
- No travel restrictions to the USA
