Tong’s Wok is a casual dining restaurant in Saskatoon, Canada. Our restaurant offers a unique dinning experience that blends the rich culinary traditions of China with a contemporary western twist. We are seeking Chinese food Cooks to join our team.
Position Details:
Location: 11-834 51st Street East Saskatoon, SK, S7K 5C7
Position: 2 vacancies
Anticipated Start Date: ASAP
Salary Expectation: $18 - $20 per hour based on experience
Working Hours: permanent position, full-time by shift including evening, weekend and holidays
Benefits: Free staff meal during shift
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure kitchen is ready for business before restaurant opens including sanitizing the work area, stocking up the work area and preparing raw ingredients.
- Communicate with management prior to shift regarding daily menu needs, special functions or events for the day.
- Prepare and complete meal orders by following recipes and company standards: washing, slicing, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, adding seasonings; verifying taste; and plating meals.
- Inspect orders to ensure proper plate presentations, portioning and recipe adherence prior to sending food out to guests.
- Assist to develop and plan menus and daily specials within established budget and availability of seasonal ingredients.
- Manage food costing and inventory by taking stock of ingredients and equipment and placing orders to replenish stock.
- Maintain work schedule for kitchen staff to ensure smooth and effective flow of activities in the kitchen.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.
- Open and/or close the work section before and after each shift.
Job Requirements:
- Completion of secondary education is required
- No experience required, Training will be provided, previous experience working in related food and hospitality industry is an asset
- Be able to communicate in English orally
- The successful candidate demonstrates a desire to work in a team environment and is open to learning new skills, working well under high stress
